PHP for sure. So many options now...depends mostly on how and what you're developing. I'm much quicker at deploying with PHP...it's a cheap technology to handle most Internet development. However, you may want to look into xml for other ideas.

As Denise Richards says, it's complicated:)

Agreed with PHP. And MYSQL at the same time. They work quite well together.

Ancient Greek would be the next logical step :D

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps Latin, too.

They go well together.

Then you have a great foundation for medicine.

Cms, css, CHf, Abg, HgB

Meganerd... PHP and MYSQL at the same time ???

Is that difficult (kinda like learning French and Spanish at the same time ?) or easy ?

PHP and MySQL are very related. When you code dynamic webpages in PHP you also use SQL-db's for storing data. I have a couple of PHP learning books and they all contain SQL-stuff as well.

Ancient Greek covers most parts of php and mysql ;)

here is a good book on php, I started with it, but eventually gave it up. Figured with outsourcing costs so cheap I better learn Spanish

Hm all amazon urls show up for me with 'ref=nosim/httpwwwhighim-20' at the end. Does anyone else see it too, or I have some spyware here?

I was going to suggest Drow Elf. :)

Best option:

Other options:
http://www.amazon.com/World-Third-V...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238666919&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/SQL-Visual-Qu...=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238666942&sr=8-4

Correct. It's really kind of pointless to try to learn php without mysql.

Chinese might be the best language to learn next though..

thanks for the link meganerd, pretty damn helpful.I gotta admit i've been going at it with php for 2 months now and only understand the very basics.it's been a little difficult for me to learn php allby myself.

if anybody here from new york can also visit

http://www.nyphp.org/

they have live classes you can take for like $1k. they last about 1 week.i'm considering taking this class soon.

also check out

http://www.killerphp.com/

has helped me alot in my transition.

Has anyone ever subscribed to Lynda.com ? They seem to have lots of computer tutorials...(I think it's $25/month to join)
I would look to free sites like WebMonkey.com or Mashable.com first before paying anything.

Then if they do not have what you want, consider other sources.

agreed. I am now learning PHP and MySql too.
great language to develop websites.

however, do beware of stuffs like mysql injection , security and etc...
Make sure your text boxes are filtered and check for user entry.

Everything you need to know to get started can be found for free.

May I add that learning PHP and MySQL are tied together, you will benefit by learning about Apache server as the base for developing PHP. Forget WIN hosting to keep cost minimal. Look for hosting plans that support and run off on Linux, Apache and PHP support...CPanel is the way to go. Soooooo many options that it will be easy to get side tracked. It's fun, enjoy.
