A US law could force President-Elect Barack Obama give up his BlackBerry, it has been reported.

The Presidential Records Act states that the soon-to-be-President’s correspondence must be available for view by US citizens, although there are restrictions. This would mean that everything included in emails written by Obama would then be up for public scrutiny.

So, it’ll be easier if he just doesn’t send them. Indeed, Clinton and Dubya both gave up email when they took up the top job. But Obama’s thought to be the first US prez with a BlackBerry addiction, so an email curtail could see him ditch the messaging-oriented talker altogether.

Found this an interesting situation for Obama....

Rest/Souce

Yeah I've read this in a newspaper here in Italy.
They said Obama is not happy to loose the Blackberry but he want a Pc in the new office at the White House.

It wouldn't be banned. Presidential email is public records so unless he wants the whole world knowing what he talks about he needs to stop using it. Also, it is a security concern with the ability to track users through their phones. There is the potential he could be tracked thru the phone which is a great security risk. Just like smoking he will give this up too.

He'll just have the twitches for a week while he gets over the email addiction :-)

Seems Amazing that in todays world the Oval Office doesn't have Computer, or does it...behind one of those hidden doors?

Broke news a couple of days ago.

Makes sense.

President's where abouts can be tracked via phone signal and such.

Plus, he is very in tune with the internet and the power of such.

But I am sure he will always have access to secure SAT phones.

I hope he still smoking in the new office :D

I read he gave that up. I am sure he will be sneaking out for a drag every now and then.

Hope Not, a "better example" would be to display his will power over addiction.

Up until now, I doubt many of the presidents were in with the whole computer/email age. Obama is rather young so I applaud him for being up with technology.

I don't mean smoke cigarettes
Lewinsky smoked other type of cigars lol

RIM should make one for the big boys. Since he is in the White House they can call it "WhiteBerry".

LOL
We've discussed in this thread, his net addiction, he smokes, and he may get a blowjob at work. Beginning to sound like, me and Barack are two peas in a pod

Johnn had to go and mention rimming though

Kidding, i know what u meant Johnn  :ok:

Simple solution to the tracking - I'm sure RIM (Research In Motion - the makers of the BlackBerry) would *love* the advertising if they made him a Blackberry that ran in the military reserved areas of the spectrum. Not as easy to track plus it would be very easy to set up decoys and have them in some military cargo planes that fly between US bases (and swap them around).

He could be our first "in the times" president when it comes to "modern times". Internet and home computers were still pretty new when Billy was in office and Bush (no offense to the older populace) is too old for it.

if they try to take away his Blackberry he might decline the job....:pound:

:yo:

:smokin: He just needs to substitute his smoke :hat: eh Mocus?

Maybe he can just use his mother-in-law's computer when she moves in with them.

That is classic, Good ole, Barack (aka Berry) Obama and his WhiteBerry.

Good stuff Johnn.

Looks like you have a business proposal to offer RIM. Secure sat phones and wireless devices for any dignitary. Would cost a bundle I am sure. Be sure to get your cut.

good ol' blunts. :ok:~~
