Those pics are not of Rick.

I didn't think that guy looked like a Swartz. :)

Right, I always thought Swatch was a rough talking geek with thick glasses.

May i suggest something? Perhaps a join venture between yourself and DNP. I'm assuming he develops them into sites, and i think your names are going to waste. If you were to lease the names to DNP for $8k a month +20% of profits, then both of you are winners, as you get a higher and more secure income, and DNP gets the use of names without having to part with $200k.__________________

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Very reasonable idea.
Such joint ventures are done all the time in many industries.
Donald Trump is constantly doing it in real estate developments,
he puts in the expertise and others the money and then they
split the profits.

at last, someone comments on my genius idea (although 10% might be fairer than 20%.....with1% going to me :D)

Just to (kinda) get back on track of the original post......

DNP, I am curious to know, of all ebess's domains, which do you consider the most valuable, or to put it another way, which would you pay the most for? No figures necessary ;-)

Yes, but did you think that he might look like Schwartz?

What do you think a Schwartz would look like?

I would have taken the 200K (if in fact) such an offer were tendered. Here is why...

Regulation, Regulation, Regulation.

It is coming folks. The days of unfettered access to xxx sites will be limited.

The porn operators can scream all the want (free speech), but the case will be made to severely hamper access to these sites.

Frankly I am against such regulation, but in all honesty the porn folks haven't played nice (whitehouse.com). They have made their own beds (sotospeak), and they will have to lie in it.

My guess is the (US) regulation will force porn operators to overseas locales. That will cost money. Also my guess is fines will be steep for those ISPs who allow minors access to the sites. (Yeah, I know...how are they going to know?? Can you say STING operations. Kind of like the ones they set up by having minors go purchase beer...Minor enters store. Purchases beer. Cops move in).

The access to these sites won't be stopped of course, but WILL be limited. That will make it tough for the average individual in the US to continue to operate such sites.

Just my .02 for today!

Actually, it will be even better as there will be less competition.. Isnt that logic?

Ebess:

200k is alot of $$ in todays dot com envoirnment.
You should ask him if his offers till stands. Also it depends on how he wants to finance the deal. If most of that is cash upfront, you might be tempted. If he wants to finance it and pay you less per month then you are making now, now way.

But 6 figures should always be taken serously, esp. since the adult industry will change in a few year and you may not make a fraction of what you make now.

D.

Wow! what a thread - I reckon Ebess and DNP did it for the DN bucks:D

Here are some opinions from me -

- Parents should take responsibility for their kids. If they are on crack, looking at porn or out stealing, it is primarily THEIR fault.

- I don't believe that many porn site owners want kids to look at their sites. They burn nandwidth and don't use credit cards.

- Spamming could be reduced if hotmail took action and recipients did a bit more than just deleting messages. I put all of hotmail, yahoo and meloo and others on deny receipt. If more people did this then the mail services operators would be more careful about monitoring account.

- Ebess, your domains are wasted at the moment. If your not going to do anything with them, then sell them to DNP. The net may change and they may lose value.

- Trying to force porn off the net will make things worse. Servers will move into front rooms, traffic will move off port 80, and fringe payment systems will develop. All this will make things impossible to control.

Those in the adult biz who keep chuckling and saying "Hey, we'll just move ownership offshore and keep doing what we're doing" are kidding themselves. The current crises with Visa forcing adult owners to pony up $1500 up front, and having U.S. ownership of the business means that it's forseeable that Visa will not allow companies not owned in America to bill through Visa America.

PayPal as an alterative solution? Gone. eBay just stopped that.

It just goes on and on.

Things are uncertain. Of course porn will come out ahead. But will that pricey adult .com be worth 2-5 years revenue from this day forth?

Who knows. The sun might be setting on that certainty.
Come on, who are you kidding? Dont you think that this are perfect conditions for another company based in lets say Hong Kong to step in and tale care of the whole market? If nobody else but them will accept adult payments, they would have a shitload of merchants fighting for them at whatever rates they decide..

Am I wrong?

Reviving this thread is going to make the newbies think that DNP really did make a $200K offer.

Of course you are right Addict. The "rest of the world" is fed up with America bankers like Visa and pseudo-bankers like PayPal disadvantaging non-americans. It's time they stopped trying to shore up declining growth by defrauding us. How many shares do the Ebay directors own now compared with a year ago?

This is nothing to do with Porn, it's more to do with the possibility of the dollar being replaced as the Internet currency.

Maybe he just wants the DN bucks so he can get an avatar.:D

DNP is a bag of hot air who attempts to give the perception he's a big buyer. He has never bought anything from me but he did offer me $50/ 3 letter .com for 800 3 letter .coms. A whopping $40K for 800- 3 letter .coms that included names such as huh.com, pbx.com, csu.com, ssf.com, hah.com, bme.com, ejr.com and wva.com.

I assure you, if he did make the offer and the lady accepted, he would have turned around, put his tail between his legs and ran away.

I say: grab the cash!

1. Adult is in decline. Too much competition
2. The 'Jenna' domains are potential TM liabilities
3. '****' domains may present additional legal and social problems for you
4. You will have done a deal with a domain bigwig, which will give you credibility that you can cite in other negotiations
5. As someone else said, you can start a "real business"
6. The valuation/ capitalization rate is reasonable considering the risk in adult and the state of flux on the net

Thanks for the info :) I just saw few other threads where you and some other members were reffering to him a sa "big player" so I concluded that he aint talking shit.. Oh well, there you go :)

You will be making $200K in two years if you are making $8K per month. And without much work . Not bad at all. Hold on. The only way your income and value of domains will go is upwards.
