Opera Software to "reinvent" the web tomorrow!

Tomorrow at 09:00AM CEDT (03:00AM EST), the Norwegian company Opera Software will introduce their latest product. Opera is the leading developer of browsers for the mobile platform (their market share is actually higher than Apple's Safari) and people are now excited about what their showcase is all about.

On June 16th at 9:00 a.m (CEDT), we will reinvent the Web.

More text/hints are continuously added to the source code (when I first checked yesterday it was only the first sentence).

They can't be talking about Opera 10, as it has only been in beta for 2 weeks and there's no chance there's an RC after only 2 weeks of beta testing. I'm guessing they're releasing a new communication platform/service. Maybe something in the lines of Google's Wave? Is the keyword here "cloud computing"!?

Opera is not a show-stopper as yet. Firefox is good for its cross-platform compatibility. Let's see what Opera have got coming.

Opera was very stable until release 9.5.
Use 9.27 instead

Opera is the no.1 domain tool for me. If you care about speed, there is nothing to beat mouse gestures in browsing. My friend tested the 10. beta and he said Facebook never was this fast.

Pretty cool if you care about FaceBook I guess.

Not too much, but same applies to other sites. Opera by default is an FF with tons of features, but if you have the same features on FF it becomes bloody slow..

The browser itself being a webserver is interesting. The rest of looks to be run-of-the-mill P2P file sharing.

It certainly gives people freedom, so it's aptly named.

However, most people don't maintain their computers too well ... so data that's posted now could disappear later / inaccessible. Or is the data mirrored / backed up on Opera's servers too? Didn't see anything saying that, so assuming no.

Facebook, MySpace, Google, etc have their problems, but are lightyears more reliable than the average person's computer when it comes to up time and data retention; many people I know reformat (some term it "refresh") their computer at least once per year, if not more.

Opera's new service definitely fits a niche, but doubt it will ever truly challenge the dominance of better known social networking sites.

Firefox hands down is my fav.
Never used Opera.
IE sucks but I have it as a backup and need it for work.
You couldn't pay me to use Chrome. Not a fan of google.

Firefox is without a doubt,the best,after many yrs of IE and switching to firefox,It's faster downloads quicker,etc.I might use Opera to see what It's all about anyway thanks for the share

The only people I see that don't prefer Opera over FF are the ones who never tried it, or didn't give enough time to learn the features and set it up properly for their taste.

I use Opera since years ago, it's better than FF. The only thing is that few websites aren't displayed correctly, but I can live with that.
