I have become interesed in this and wanted to know what good options they are out there?

Not sure if the last one (private folders) is still available. Too many people complained about it. I may still have a copy of it around if not though. Just PM if they're not giving it away anymore and you want a copy.

I think there are scripts that you can use to lock the folder with password.
Perhaps you can use this?

Thanks guys - how do I just make it so you can't access the whole PC, including the HDD, without the right pass? That program seems to do folders etc only

you can't, having encrypted data is the only secure protection

So in bestcrypt I basically select c: to encrypt everything including the Windows install?
