Please gimme some ideas on developing it and making it useful.

You have a lot of options with this one, so I'll chime in with a few:
1) "Green" blog/magazine using wordpress
2) site that tracks the environmental stances of major politicians, corporations, countries, etc.
3) a directory for environmentally friendly companies/products
4) similar to #1 but theme of space exploration
