Napster is one of the best recognized brands in internet history. At its peak popularity, it had something like 50 million active users. What Yahoo or Google is to search, what Amazon is books, what eBay is to auctions, Napster is to music.

I would peg the value of the brand at $5 million - $25 million.

Let's assume it gets 250,000 type-ins a month (3 million a year) from people looking for free copyrighted music. What is that worth? Not much... maybe $75k for the name.

What is the domain worth to companies like these? Maybe a little over a million?
