will these sites close down or instead offer WLS subscriptions ;P

A WebCat Prediction

I suspect they will try the business model of purchasing subscriptions and auctioning them off. I predict his strategy will fail, and within a few months, they will cease to exist.

They will face some tough challenges, but I am sure they would adopt new business models to be competitive in the future secondary marketplace. Whether you like it or not, you have to admit that they are true entrepreneurs who have created successful businesses...even with their current business model, they can survive easily because...
1) WLS covers only .com & .net
2) There will be many domains, which people like to catch for $15 (NameWinners min. bid (w/new accounts) & POOL may lower their price to $15), instead of paying $39 and up for WLS.

They won't be profitable as they are now in short term, but WLS is not the end to those companies...it's just a huge challenge to overcome...and I believe they will.

I don't know why they would even want to. The non-com/net markets are not lucrative and if I were them I would be disgusted with icann's betrayel and just get out of the industry. With WLS, this free market we came to love is gone. Long live the monopoly!

They will focus more of their energy on trying to hype ".org" & the "other extensions" since this will be the only drop game in town other than el-cheapo .com & .net names.

Never know.. this may be a boost for the upcoming TLD's! :-)

Imagine if you had a business- where you were guaranteed profits between $15.00 up to TENS of THOUSANDS on every single drop you catch, then the greedy, Evil Empire (NSI) completely takes that away from you, destroying your business model, offering in return little crumbs....... And all the while they rake in HUGE revenues for....... NOTHING!

I'm sure Pool, NW, Dotster, GoDaddy, and all the rest just love the Emperor!
