Pool encouraging cybersquatting

Below is the so-called Pool.com 'hot list' for today.
It includes obvious TM names like virginairlines.com or linksys.org.
Is Pool so desperate that they need to lure newbies into ordering problem domains like these ?
And it's not just today's list that is questionable, TM names are a common occurence with them.

Question: how can we possibly be taken seriously as an industry when the leading companies encourage cybersquatting behavior ?

I happen to agree with you on this one Kate, Pool should be ashamed of themselves, but we shouldn't be surprised, When they pulled that "Sealed Auction" Format sometime ago, it showed to the entire domain community just how low they will go to make a profit.

I don't think Pool picks these domains personally, do they? I always assumed they were based on traffic or something similar. TM'ed domains drop everyday and drop catchers can't be responsible to filter them out.

They are perfectly capable of filtering out blatant TM's or TM typos, they just wont because it's good for their bottom line.

I am not sure whether the lists are automated or the names are hand-picked, either way Pool should really be more selective.
This is the type of behavior that can only reinforce those who think domaining is just another fancy word for cybersquatting.

Because it isnt a crime to buy, own or sell names like these. Its a civil matter, and up to the trademark holder to decide whether their mark is being infringed upon. What anyone else thinks doesnt mean dick.

Dont mean to be rude, but when it comes to ethics, if you believe its wrong, its wrong. If you believe its OK, its OK. When its something thats a matter of opinion, 10,000 posts arguing about it wont change anything.

The point is that the so-called hot list actually is a list of selected, 'recommended picks' issued and endorsed by Pool. Even if it's automated (which I doubt) it's wrong and it's incitement to cybersquatting.

anyway if someone could scan out all tm domains in daily basis I would love that tm list. for research.

I'm neither here nor there, but just because it is a TM doesn't mean whoever registers it is immediately guilty of depriving said TM owners of money or whatever. I don't think it should be Pool's job to filter out names and hold my hand.

If you want to fight against drugs you don't go after the drug addict, you go after the drug dealer.... Pool should check the list before sending it to the users
