I have been following this interesting thread for some time and wanted to jump on your bandwagon

Agree with you fully Bid. I am always amazed so few seem to understand or grasp these issues very well.

Order of the keywords makes zero difference as far as searches go. That's why you see names like estatereal.com and even estate-real.com reg'd. Note, I did not check to see if these are in fact reg'd but am assuming they are due to their significant search engine value.

As a side note, non-hyphenated name would act in a SE like it has a space just like the one with the hyphen due to something called 'word parsing,' a technology pioneered by Google and now used by other SE's also, which can easily seperate words, especially dictionary words.

The order of keywords only matters are far as type-in traffic goes as no one types them in backwards of course. Of course, this is a major benefit to reg'ing names in the correct word order so you do not need to only rely on search engines.

That's why Overture (which is a search engine) reports "Searches done in June 2002 Count Search Term 1063031 real estate, regardless of it being entered backwards or not.

Overture's primary purpose is to get you to pay for so called keywords, with a minimum spend of 5c, no website in the adult, casino, ect, category, no matter what the name is going to rank in the top 100 plus searches unless you pay for it.

3 separated words adult sex pornos, on Google gets 77.500 results, on Altavista those same 3 search terms produce 225,772 results, type them into Overture suggestion tool the result is 206 searches.

Go to Overture search type in the key words and the price being paid for those terms is 10c a click, to them your title key words and meta tags mean very little, your site opimization cant beat dollars being paid.

And they don't take Dan bux either, Overture is over-rated unless you put the .com on the end of the URL.

Americar, you seem to be implying Overture does this as they are selling keywords, but please correct me if understanding you wrong.

Google does it the same way as Suggestion Tool. It has absolutely nothing to do with them trying to sell keywords. Evidence is next -

What i am saying is self explanatory, if you are checking searches on Overture for a domain name it's almost a waste of typing not adding the .com extension to it, then you get the real result.

Anybody can make up key word domain names, and by the way i'm in your corner names won't sell unless they are developed or they are very good names.

Agree with you on that. As you know, the percentage of returns achieved by typing-in the dot-com on the end is usually an extremely small ratio, and is a great way to judge a names potential type-in value.

An oddity is sometimes I run across a name with an amazingly high percentage of returns with the ext vs without. Most other times it's the exact opposite, and far more common.

P.S. You better stop using those Icons, especially the non-standard red one or else we may start comparing it to your old giant American Car images. Plus, MattyP may be disturbed over your icons as he was with my green icon use

Its comes down to the same old argument, many names similar to (or much better) than yours are still available, which would imply the names are worthless. If you're generating income from them its a result principally of your own labour, not the inherant value the name itself, thus its appraisal value is zero.

If sexstoriesfree.net were a such a good name; and 300,000 searches is more than 300 times the number on the name you are asking for an appraisal on (which was less than 1000 when rearranged), then it would have been registered long ago! sexstoriesfree.net just happened to be the first one I tried so if you really think these kinds of names have value you better start registering as no doubt hundreds like it are still available!

I might take this a little further .. with 2 key words instead of 3.

These 2 key words are costing 17 cents per click at the moment, as a combo.

Adults .. and .. Hardcore, adults plural the S kills it but overture does not discriminate between singular and plural in it's results, these 2 words seperated buy a space result in 1352 searches for the 2 words.

As a 1 word search .. Adults.. returns 580,697 results .. Hardcore .. retrurns 163,901 results, but as a straight type-in the combination returns zero results.

A search of Google as 2 seperate words = 145,000 page results, a search of Altavista = 225,775 page results.

Straight type-in, Google 5 results Altavista 1 result, i have the .com and it's worth nuffin.com, it points to a cheap sales page, and has been for sale for 2 Years with no result.

So much for Over-rated, if any body wants the name it wont take much effort to get it from me.

I have no interest in the development of this name what's so-ever, i am just pointing out that the name has zero relevence and it is worth Nuffin.com even though it is purely generic.

I mentioned it as a straight type-in on google only as an example to show that it is listed not ranked, and by the way if you remember MODEMGAL from AN that person used to type the URL straight into the search just to see if a name had a listing at all.

A frame el'cheapo page cannot be search engine optimised as you well know, that was not the point the point is many are paying 17cents per click to use those 2 key words.

I dont want this name or any others like it most of them i have given away in the past to professionals from that other board, they have never yet turned one down but i hung on to a couple like this name just for the heck of it.
