I took one of my parked domains that isn't doing anything and I set up an experiment.

I have 3 email addresses for the domain, an [email protected], a (name)@domain.com and a (odd word)@domain.com

I put up two pages, an index page with the (name)@domain.com address in it and an oddly named page with the [email protected] address in it.

The admin email address is not shown anywhere.

I've set up some folders in Outlook to have all emails from these three addresses sent to their own folders.

How long do you think it will take before I start seeing spam? Obviously the (name)@domain.com would be the first, but how about the other two?

The pages are active as of 5 minutes ago. If this proves to be interesting, I'll update in here.

Is the website backlinked much? I think generally the more back links, the higher the likelihood, and volume, of spam you'll get

There shouldn't be any backlinks. A Google search for the domain (with TLD) only shows archived expired domain lists (mostly about 4 months before I purchased the domain) and the domain has been parked for about 3 months now so it's at least 7-8 months since it's been an active website seeking traffic.

Google hits w/ TLD - 19
Google Hits w/o TL - 4,750

Minimal search engine traffic, too.

South - I don't want to stop it, I want to see it coming in. :)
