That's actually a little freaky to watch.

I know huh...can only imagine where they will apply this kind of tech

"The program is funded by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA)."

I have no idea.. ;)

can you imagine that thing coming at you with weapons...

Runs at 4mph is too slow. I don't think it can get up if it falls down. A big step tech forward.

man! freaking Starwars-like!
if a victim (enemy?) where to be running away in that gravel, surely that bigdog would catch up with him!

it's too sophisticated to lack this ability. did you seer how it keeps it's balance on ice?

Bottom line...it's just the beginning, watch out muppets

Dress it up in a Gorilla suit and it reminds me of Bigfoot!!

That's pretty smart tho and if this is only at the "beginning" of what the technology can do, imagine what it'll be like when it's matured.

EMPs? We already have them, they're called nuclear weapons. :)

Do you really think governments like the US, Russia, and Chine don't already have them?

Nicola Tesla made an earthquake machine and shot a bolt of lightning from New York into Siberia and that was close to 100 years ago.

Imagine trying to sneak up on someone with that thing?

I'd think a mule would be quieter.

It looks like 2 sets of legs with one set going forward and the other set backing up. It's amazing how they can program for all the balance possibilities.

yea i was just thinking of what they used in The Matrix to neutralize the drones that were trying to attack their ship.

i mean, i can see wanting to have one of those to carry around in my pocket if we're going to have robot dogs and things like THIS flying around. :upset:

you want to talk about scary, try this quote:

In one approach, researchers funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) are inserting computer chips into moth pupae -- the intermediate stage between a caterpillar and a flying adult -- and hatching them into healthy "cyborg moths."

The Hybrid Insect Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems project aims to create literal shutterbugs -- camera-toting insects whose nerves have grown into their internal silicon chip so that wranglers can control their activities. DARPA researchers are also raising cyborg beetles with power for various instruments to be generated by their muscles.
