Hi everyone,

Is there a sale cycle in domaining? Which months are better and which months are worst.

Same for forum activity, is there a cycle with better months vs worst months?


Is the Alexa traffic graph agood indication?

september thru december have been good sales periods for me and january thru march are good periods for buying, as many domainers do spring cleaning.

sales periods are better in fall thru winter imo, because consumer product sales increase thru christmas, new year and after christmas closeouts.

those who hold keyword domains in these categories usually experience higher traffic and revenue, thus increasing the value of their domains.

it puts the seller at an advantage during this period and only the smart buyers imo, will bite at higher priced names based on this traffic, because then they would own them next year!

this cycle usually continues year after year, unless there is a big fluctuation in exchange rates.
this year for example is one, as the dollar continues to drop against other currencies.
buyers in those countries can expend more, as their budgets automatically increase against the dollar.
i've seen more offers come thru sedo, from non-usd currencies since the drop in the value of a dollar.



i don't think forum activity is really tied to sales. i think it's more tied to happenings within the industry, politics and the controversy surrounding them.
the basic populations of forums are there for the info, sales and general business, but i think the peaks are based on conversation of what transpires thru-out the industry.
