Cabinets.net was priced at $4,500 so how was that underpriced?

I thought it was lower than $4500 since webuythecom talked about the xxx level.

Again, my point is that there are more "hidden" sales than anything else. A tip for future bargain hunters: post SOLD at the BIN price if you want the name. Some buyers expect great deals at bottom prices. With the proliferation of auction places, sellers have far more options to list domains for sale.

We've had this discussion for a bit over two years now. There will always be a market for one word names, LLL, etc. Selling one of these names IE> cabinets.net is a no brainer. Now that this name has been brought into the subject lets track it's life over the next few years. Will the buyer sell again with a substantial profit? Will he/she develop? Or will he/she be back on here in a few months to a year making minimal returns?

It's pretty obvious that a name such as this would sell amongst domainers for $4500. It's pretty obvious it will in the future. It probably would have several years ago, and maybe even did? That is unless someone needs some quick cash which could have been the case for this particular sale. Who knows did the seller take a loss, did he just make his money back, or make a small profit? I would guess it was one of those three rather than a huge profit. The name has been registered since 1998 does anyone have any explanation as to why it hasn't brought an "end-user" price since then? In 10 years?

Now I'm sure I'm not the only one that has sold regfee names to end users in the $4500 range. So if we consider $4500 for cabinets.net a reseller price then end-user should bring atleast mid $xxx,xxx's right? lol

In these days makes absolutely no business sense to sell at a loss. Domains earn money through parking. Domains are being held for years; the renewal fees are expenses once you form a business entity. To hold indefinitely until a buyer comes along, makes more sense. I bought dictionary .com/.net/.org domains by the bucketful at $10 and $20 a pop several years ago, sold many for as much as 5 figures in the "retail" market.

The OP states that the sales are "sluggish"; the $10 and $20 domains offered for sale nowadays are junk.

for $20, you could fish some very decent names from the lowest end of the pool 6 years ago.

for the same $20 today, you'll get XW-JK.com

I made a thread practically giving domains away for $15-20. Now, these aren't high end names or anything, but I think they're somewhat priced half decently.

Can't even get a reply these days, what, do my domains all of a sudden have the cooties?

I have been buying domain names for years but my membership here is perhaps a year old.

Curious...my research on DNF shows you were operating under a different name before. Please explain.

Re the decline in sales, I think it can be attributed to 2 factors:

1. Overall deterioration in the US economy. It is sliding into recession.

2. Deterioration in quality of domains offered. The best domains appear to be now going to auction at Moniker, Sedo, etc.
