Scam Buyer Email - Warning

I have received two emails like this for two sepatate premium domain names. Both from separate yahoo email addresses. Both yahoo emails suggest two separate large corporate companies. The text in both emails is identical apart from the domain name. Creature.

how do they scam your domain if the transaction is done via escrow.com ?

this should indicate spam/scam off the bat.

further if you google the names of these companies they usually will have 0 results.

Clearly Creature is saying that large corporations use Yahoo accounts to hide their true identities. If the domain owner knew they were a large corporation, the selling price would be inflated, assuming that the corporation would be willing to pay more than the average Joe.

That said, because others have received the same email, it is probably someone sending large amounts of emails to premium domain owners.

It's the famous appraisal scam. They don't want to buy your domain, they just want you to buy an appraisal from another partner in crime. Then you will not hear from them.

There's another angle to be wary of. Mass harvesting of 'whois' can yield millions of email addresses. If you reply, it could be taken that you're partly 'opted-in' to their house file which they can then 'rent' to other companies at around $350/m names. It's a tangled 'web'.

I usually will simply reply to those emails with only two middle fingers.... hold the shift key with one and slight your other finger on the second row of the keyword.... resulting a very meaningful message saying: "~!@#$%^&*()_+".

I would guess it's a tactic used to temp you to reply. Of course I don't believe it's an email from any kind of reputable company.

This is the most likely explanation imo.

Recently, scammers have gotten more clever.
they use actual domains, but when you do a whois, you see that the domain/email they are sendning from is like, 5 days old, from a registrar that usually gives a domain for free for some service.
this makes it look better than a yahoo email, but still....
its a wild world.
