Damn I haven't seen this much snow in a long time. In my area I have 30 inches of snow plus the drifts are 4-5 feet at least. I had part of a tree collapse in my yard and thankfully it didn't hit the house. Just about everything accept for the 7/11 are closed. Its a mess.

Around 4-5 inches so far here in central VA, which is more than enough to shut everything down

We had flurries in Kendall, Oakland Park, and Boynton Beach last month (possibly some where I live, too). People didn't know what to do - it hasn't snowed here in over 30 years. :D

Few weeks ago, 40 inches, -20 degrees celsius.

No gloves, hat, nothing... This is the first time in years I felt my hands freezing. It's kinda cool when there's no wind, but if there is wind... Don't go outside if you don't have a car.

Yeah, a little cool (though wet) in Texas. I'll never forget seeing 40' snow banks when they plowed the parking lot at the mall in Madison, Wisconsin. Can you guys post photos?

Welcome to my world! ;)

Here's a picture I took outside yesterday:

Stian,

I am a big collector of antique oil paintings and art. Two of my favorite are from you part of the country - Kai Drews and his son, Sven. Their snowscapes are breathtaking and you photo immediately reminded me on one by Kai with a man on sled being pulled by two horses around a curving road with a beautiful sunset.

I had been without power from Friday until yesterday afternoon. We have had perhaps 16-18" of snow. A very wet and heavy snow that was enough to bring numerous trees down along with the power lines.

There will be two storms coming - one from the West and another one from the south.

I like to be the weatherman. He/she is wrong most of the time but they still have the job!

What the heck is 50 percent change of snow/rain/sunny/cloudy?

My sentiments exactly.

Today, there will be a 50% chance of rain.

That means it will either rain or it won't.

Wishing I was in New Orleans, my third home - that was where my dad lived and died.

So glad the power came on in time for me to watch Who Dat win their first superbowl.

Wife? Well, she missed all of this spending time in Florida with her family. Due back today. She was at the Shuttle Launch last night.

Yeah, if you haven't been to Norway, you should definitely plan a trip some day. If you like beautiful landscapes that is. :)

I'm inkling to hit Scandanavia someday. The plan is to go shopping for a new Volvo (some day), buy it in Sweden, then drive it around Scandanavia then south to Holland to ship home. But, other priorities at the moment - and near future.

Don't forget to look me up when you're in Norway then. :)

We are the snow starved Texans.

When I told my daughter DC area is getting a lot of snow - "Oh Lucky for them, I wish we had that kind of snow"

I told her you guys passed the lucky part and is in miserable state.

Even if we get 3rd of it - we don't even know how to deal with that situation.

I've had several people on my list. I have associates in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and a few other places. I understand Copenhagen is awesomely beautiful. When we do go, we plan on taking a month off and just explore northern Europe as well as the coastal areas on the way to Amsterdam. We have made no set route. Just a "wish list" of places and route to travel.

My heritage is the Norman (Normandy) region and have been traced back to the Vikings. I can not recall all the names on the list. But I have a long list of distant family in that area.

Also, I have an aunt that lives in New Orleans area (married my dad's brother) who is from Iceland. She did all the family research spending much time in Halifax, NS doing the research.

She wants us to visit Iceland on the way back and meet her family.

Small world, eh? I wish every where was connected by bridges and I could just do spontaneous Road Trips!
