I had a 06 997C4S and now an 08 Audi Q7 3.6 Premium S-Line with 21" alloys

Too bad they just don't build them like they used to my friend..and yes, I am thoroughly aware of the above models and have driven them all at least once

You did however forget to mention the all powerful SL73 AMG (7.3L V12) made in 95', then 98' to 01', but you probably don't see many of those in Texas..since they are all down here in Florida lol..well, then there is the sought after SL60 too but they just did'nt make very many of those as it had just a 2 year production run (approx. 5 seconds 0-60, over 400 hp, top speed of close to 190 mph, extremely good handling) and this was way back in 96'-98' with a V8 engine! k:

What do you think of the restyle on the SL? I was looking at one in the showroom last week (not to buy - I was checking out an R class - need lots of seats) - I think they've made a pigs ear of it. The thing about SLs is, they have a touch of elegance, even the AMG models are elegant AND brutish at the same time. But the new model....nope!

I totally agree...I think the older SL series in the 129 body style was the best ever made imo, pure luxury & LOTS of smooth power! The best engines ever made to my knowledge were the 32 valve 5.0L V8's (4 valves per cylinder) with the variable valve timing

As far as the "new" & "newer" SL series goes...well, blah.

I drove an SLR and the brakes actually light up on fire under hard braking, it's crazy..they are designed to believe it or not!

you watch way too much Top Gear my buddy picked up an SLR last week silver on black to complement his Gallardo... All ceramic composite breaks can overheat like that....

way too big although rides very smooth.... My friend traded his S550 AMG less than 6 months later for the CL63

Not the latest one with the wacky lights, IMO - they just don't suit it. My brother has had a couple of recent SL55s and now has a 997 C4S Cabriolet. I liked the power of the Merc, but the Porsche is just so tactile, the steering is fantastic - I'd take the Porsche every time. And it's got a couple of back seats, kind of...

I do agree that the front lights could look better. They remind me of the pre-2008 C-class lights which are not very good looking. But the rest of the chassis is awesome IMO.

I've never been a Porsche fan myself, as I prefer bigger cars. But if you like speed, then Porsche is probably (one of) the way(s) to go.

BTW here's my current car. I've had it for a while now and I'm eager to get a new one soon.
