I'm aware of those, but I don't see how that could be the future or even benefitial. As a matter of fact, it seems more like an END to me. All the confusion etc... blah!. .COM, .NET, .ORG and perhaps .INFO is all we need.

It's been said before,
when a city grows, they add new streets
the streets just carry more cars
all the streets remain crowded

Same with new extensions.
They will handle more people that are just coming online, but still bleed traffic to the more popular extensions.
They won't remove traffic from .com - just make more.
