A test forum would be good. We can test posts here and should be viewable to the poster only.

What's wrong with the preview function? You get to see what the post will look like but it is not actually posted.

On a new post the "Preview Post" option is already available. This will not post a message until you press Submit.

To see the preview function on a reply click "Go Advanced". You will then see a button under your post that says "Preview Post". If you choose not to post then you can just close the window.
