Not trying to take any money away from anyone, I think theres plenty to earn for all of us. And all kinds of tips and tricks are posted here for us domainers.

So my question, whats the best typo? Wrong key typos, Missed chars typos, Transposed chars typos, or Double chars typos? Is there a way to rank which typo you'd want to own over the others? If so, can we form a consensus as to which would be the top 5 or top 10?

Say the domain to typo was google.com:

Wrong key typos

foogle.com
voogle.com
boogle.com
hoogle.com
yoogle.com
toogle.com
giogle.com
gkogle.com
glogle.com
gpogle.com
g0ogle.com
g9ogle.com
goigle.com
gokgle.com
golgle.com
gopgle.com
go0gle.com
go9gle.com
goofle.com
goovle.com
gooble.com
goohle.com
gooyle.com
gootle.com
googke.com
googpe.com
googoe.com
googlw.com
googls.com
googld.com
googlr.com
googl4.com
googl3.com

Missed characters typos

oogle.com
gogle.com
gogle.com
goole.com
googe.com
googl.com

Transposed characters typos

ogogle.com
google.com
gogole.com
goolge.com
googel.com

Double characters typos

ggoogle.com
gooogle.com
gooogle.com
googgle.com
googlle.com
googlee.com

And what about wwwgoogle.com, a typo with the "www" added. Would that be the best typo?

I remember someone posting here a while back that "the missing letter is always the best typo".

From searching keyword popularity in overture, usually you can see that some letters are more prone to be missed in certain words.

Another good typo is when people actually believe they are spelling the word correctly, for example bullet and bullit.

Another good typo is when the typo spells another word, such as 'juegos' games in spanish; and 'jugos' juices in spanish.

How to get natural type-in typos:

Get 5 typists of differing aptitude.

Give them a list of, say, 1000 domains.

Tell them to faithfully not correct their typing errors.

Analyse the resulting database.

You make a good point, I guess I was just looking for more of a universal rule that could be applied to most any random domain. For example, of all the 30 or so google.com typos, wwwgoogle.com would be the #1 most likely used typo. Following that would be gppgle.com, etc. So then, if the typo was apartments.com, you would want to reg. wwwapartments.com 1st. I've tried using various domains to find a similarity or pattern on when a particular typo is chosen over others, based on reg'd date. Extremely difficult to say the least.

most of the time

a typo of apple.com that goes to a site selling computer equipment and music players might get some attention.

if it was selling apple juice, maybe not
