A few months ago, I stumbled over a rather weird video on break.com , where this young kid, Tay Zonday, does a cover of the song "Chocolate Rain".
A lot of people have probably heard of this, but for those who haven't, check out the links below.
You gotta watch the video first and then I'll tell you how this amateur-recorded video clip evolved into a major music video and lots of media attention. It's rather amusing in my opinion.

The video quickly became extremely popular, with more than 24 million views on YouTube as of June 2008 and now this kid has been
on the news and in newspapers all over. He has even been featured in a recent South Park episode and Dr. Pepper
has produced a music video of his song, where he is fronting the new Cherry Dr. Pepper.
