TM Question about Verb domain

Hi,

I am about to make a purchase for a domain name which is a verb. However, there is a software company in the United States which recently filed a trademark on the word under "Word Mark". The name of the company also has the verb in it. I am wondering if I should still go ahead and make the purchase. It is a pretty big amount so I am a little afraid to take the risk. Any suggestion? What can I do to protect myself? Thanks.
