USA invades cc.tlds ??

Hi, im slowly getting assured here cc.tld's are getting invaded by United States of America!

now
.mn (Mongolia)stand for Minnesota ~ senate.mn (Minnesota senate )

.la (Laos) stand for Los Angeles (saw lots, whois.la and so on)

.li (Lichteinstein ) stand for Long Island (a more! than a few here http://www.longisland.li/)

and so on ...the trends are keeping growing

what's going on?? USA Invades cc.tld's ?? :undecided:

If you live in a country affected by this write ICANN and your respective domain monitoring agency and ask them to audit and/or change the policies for acquiring one of these ccTLD.

Personally, I only plan on purchasing them for devolopment requested by a client (I am in the US but I have potential clients in Belgium (.be) and Germany (.de)). I'll have to do some research on their policies before I attempt to register any of these domains, though.

I don't think you have to worry about Minnesota, though, I think no one lives there and they don't use the web, so making web sites for that state would be futile. :lol::approve::smilewinkgrin:

Long Island - a lot of rich people there and I think a high Jewish percentage (correct me if I'm wrong, please).

Both demographics love to socialize and gossip, I don't think it's too bad.

I know the .la registry markets their domains to Los Angeles. Not very thoroughly, mind you, but they clearly want the business.

I think some Americans are naive and think ccTLDs are only good as vanity or domain hacks
In Europe in particular the local extension often is more prominent than .com.
As for house.mn it sets a bad example of TLD dilution. If the US does not trust its own extension, why end users should ?

Agreed, a ccTLD may seem more local than a .com (best option is to have both and 301 the .com to the ccTLD). Some people would want to deal with a more local presence than a huge MS-looking behemoth (sp?).

I average 1-2 offers a week between my .St State domain names, and they all seem to come from the States, so yes I can see there is a definate market for the State abbreviated domains such as .mn, .la, and others.

I don't see the problem.

Allow Americans to reg. cc.tld's = more money for those countries :yes:
