Virtual desktops

Is there any programs to allow you to creat virtuall desktops that you can switch between on your computer.

Ie allows me to have one desktop with one set of icons when working on one thing and then allowing me to switch to another desktop with other icons when I'm work on something else.

It seems one desktop never contains enough room :doh:
