I came to VCF earlier & read the PM I got about the changes being made to DNF & also made a couple posts.... I came back just now & it said I had another PM.... was the same PM as before, it just thought I hadn't read it..... ALSO... both the posts I made have vanished.

Obviously had a database clearout - I'm also getting distorted avatars in IE 6 but okay in Firefox.

looks like a few hours have gone missing from the databse

Looks like posts from 1:53 AM to 11:?? AM are gone

Lost my PMs from this morning too!

There was a new emergency version of mysql released and we had to shut down and do a quick update.

The backup from 2 am was restored, we can restore any posts that were lost, but if we do will take time, so we decided against it as users post now to fast.

2 am to 9 am is missing, was closed from 9 am and back at 11 am.

Was a big security bug in mysql so we had to update to the latest version fast.

sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

thanks for the explanation and it's indeed very important to upgrade to latest sql version.

thought i was going mad for a minute :-P

Anyone else noticing the avatar issue?

avatar shows ok from Apple/MacOs X/Safari

However, another p[otentially serious problem seems to have crawled up.

Time.
It is not showing the times of the posts in the correct order.
It is showing tinmes varying by hours for ech post made.
Perhaps each person time zone has been affected by the mysql change?

P.S.
just checked the time for this post. it is ok. So I guess it only affected the time (stamp) of the posts made between the missing hours, so it is not that serious.
