Next to malware I have to say the main thing that slows down my browsing experience is...

ADS. (Even with a clean system)

Time and time again I am waiting for a page to load because the designer has the ads load first (or before anything important) and I am staring at "waiting for (insert ad feed site) and I wait, as long as a minute (or two?).

Ad blocker doesn't do anything to help this since many ad companies can get around these pretty well (Ad Blocker for FF doesn't help too much).

I have very few problems with DNF, once in a great while I have this issue but some other sites are HORRIBLE (MySpace is one of the worst offenders, you'd think Tom would get better advertisers?).

So, to the people who supply ads, please make sure your servers can handle the traffic and the ads will load quickly. If I want to read a page I will definitely not support the company who is slowing down my browsing experience.

Norton Antivirus, IE, JavaScript, other wireless/wired devices in the same network, your router, ...

Too much flash on sites...

Kids!

:-)

I suffer from the ripple effect. One of my newsfeeds, a local feed which is why I want it, slows down my entire page from loading because even when I go to its homepage it can take 30 seconds to load over there. So I blame the folks I get the feed from; the ads actually come fairly quickly.

buying and selling domains slows me down the most
