Does anyone have experience with an overbearing tunnel-visioned moderator on any forum where the whole three sides to every story thing just doesn't matter to that person?

What have you done when your account gets closed on one of your frequented forums due to a matter as described?

The reason it was closed may be fair based on one's interpretation of the rules, but when it is not fair based on ethics and the mod with the button pushing powers doesn't follow any ethical paradigm besides a rigid interpretation of rules, what next?

You can:

1. Complain to his "superiors"
2. Ignore it and move on.

1 is in motion.

2 is painful as hundreds of hours were spent being a good member, building a strong reputation and engaging in provocative discussion.

I suspect the forum's direction is political ;) I've found such discussions to create a rather high amount of mental friction. One can slip the old proverbial tongue and get in trouble with his peers. Perhaps you can walk away from it for a while, then go back later and explain that you needed a break and learned your "lesson". Plus you'll be posting more on DNF :D

my account at *p was closed today, i have no clue why...

edited, i like to know why my account closed... im not involved in any discussion in the forum, not sure why its closed now. Im very confused!!!! i have created a thread in the closed forum board, lets wait and see... this really sucks, they close your account and dont email you or post anything about it...

im so confused right now, im not sure to why or who would want my account closed!

sometimes people take things too personal, and...mods are people too! :)

i'm not in a position to defend anyone, but being a mod is not as easy as it looks, or may appear.

it's a thankless job from the majority and only a minority will defend their actions.

a mod's post has to be tempered, as he/she represents the forum, while he/she is also a member too....they often cannot react, retailiate or in many cases express "gut' feelings in political conversations, the same as other members.

as for rules, many feel rules are meant to be broken or radically changed, rather than a negotiated process.

some will "push the envelope" in an effort to the "press buttons" of staff.

i think maybe acro has the best advice and that is to take a brief vacation

release the stress and aggravation

Start your own forum :D

Cry, hit walls, and jump up and down, then follow Acros advice..

BannedDomainers.com is available to register :D

I had a mod like that before... I complained to the admin, and the owner of the site that employed them (a celebrity) and nothing was done, so i just had to leave! couldn't stand them any more!

A while ago I noticed that nonpros.com was available - went to reg it and it got taken within the seconds it took me to open a tab...

i just found out the reason my account was closed, was due to me selling my vbulletin license. The mod had asked me to verify the account several weeks ago, I had submitted this information to the ADMIN and not the MOD. When the mod saw the new thread, he decided it was time to close my account .... a misunderstanding!!!

I've been on a forum before where the owner was like that (no mods - only the two owners). I just left. No temper tantrum like I've seen so many times, no storming off, no good bye posts, I just left and didn't turn back.

Interesting way to treat me after I strongly defended him on a different forum and almost got banned because of an overbearing moderator on that forum. :S
