I'm sitting here with a beer in my hands right now, so I thought I'd ask you guys this question.

What kind of alcohol do you prefer?

Personally, I'm partial to beer. Vodka comes second, simply because of the possibilities it offers in terms of cocktails, etc. (I love mojitos and martinis). I haven't picked up a taste for whiskey (always thought it was too much of an old man's drink), and good wine is hard to find here.

In beer, I used to love Guiness, but since that isn't available easily here, I've switched to a brand called Kingfisher

When I'm living in Europe I enjoy Guinness, Pilsner Urquell, and just about all Polish beers (Żywiec, Lech, Okocim). When I'm living in the US, I like Henry Weinhard's, or any Oregon made beers. McMenamins Pub & Brewery in Oregon makes a Ruby Ale and Terminator Stout that are both some of the best beers I've ever had.

I don't drink much hard alcohol, but I do enjoy Austrian dark rum, like Stroh 80.

vodka everytime

You ever had Żubrówka? It's a Polish bison grass vodka, it has a really different taste to it. It's extremely smooth going down. Every bottle has one blade of grass in it. Worth trying if you get the chance.

I miss the variety of alcohol offered in the US. Here, there are very few brands, especially when it comes to beer. Just about half a dozen brans across the country. We have no beer drinking culture here, and there is no tradition of local beers.

I imagine one day, when I have the spare money & the time, I would like to start a brewery, along with a restaurant. Offer patrons quality, freshly brewed beer along with the food - nothing better than that.

Beer: Guiness, Becks, Sapporo, many others
Ale: British Ale, IPA
Wine: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Burgundy etc...
Champagne: Red, Pink
Mead
Spiced Rum
Cognac
Tequila

When I used to drink, a great lager is hard to beat for pub drinking.

I loved fine Italian wines.

Tequila is pure craziness.

And Absinthe...you must experience seeing the "Green Fairy".

And, of course, here in Carolina nothing beats good ol White Lightning.

WHEN I did drink (haven't in years), my preferred was Corona, Goldschlager or Vodka w/ 7 Up.

And Absinthe...you must experience seeing the "Green Fairy".

Is that one still illegal in the US?

It is now legal in the US but most imported are not original formula and are basically very very high alcohol vs. wormwood. The effect now is getting drunk on high alcohol content and not experiencing the true "Green Fairy" effect.

It depends on the location of the moment. In Prague I like to drink Staropramen. Ginja at Lisbon etc.
I like port wine and Banyuls too... :)

I lean toward the Belgian trappist / abbey ales. Nothing wrong with a good glass of blue label though.

Cheers!

Johnny walker SWING...

Hmmm. Been to plenty of Johnny Walker tastings, never heard of that. Will have to check that out.

I gave up drinking nearly 2 years ago, best thing I ever did, but I still miss a nice cold beer!

Jameson straight with a fat tire beer. That's about all I need for a good little buzz.. I rarely drink more than that in one sitting anymore. Ok I'm going to ejoy my drink now.

vodka is the best for me. BTW, I hold domain vodkamania.com

I want to try out Absinthe. Heard a lot about its supposed hallucinogenic effects.

what exactly is "White Lightening" btw?

Its interesting to note that a lot of people here at DNF don't drink, or have given up drinking.
