I wanted this domain called par******.com, but it was already registered. So I visited their site to check is it for sale or already developed. Ive been unpleasantly surprised, and never went further than the first page. I just hate scum that is using children like this, so I wonder what is the right institution to report such things?

EDIT: I have edit the domain, in order to not violate the law, and prevent perverts that might be checking this forum from seeing it..

report it to the FBI, i am sure they will look into it and forward the details to the necessary authorities......even if the owner is German, it might be on a US server.

International law enforcement authorities cooperate to investigate these kinds of things, and they should be left to investigate them. There is no "I was collecting stuff to report to law enforcement" defense to having illegal material on your hard drive. You might want to read a recent thread on that subject in alt.domain-names.disputes for further comments along those lines.

The US Dept. of Justice has a set of instructions for reporting child pornography here:
http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/ceos/report.htm

Also, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children operates a site here:
http://www.cybertipline.com

I would strongly recommend that if you come across such material, that you do not conduct your own "investigation". Report it and move on.

and don't forget to clean your temp folders out.........coz when you visit sites the picture saves to your hard drive so you don't have to keep downloading the pics from the page (at least i think its like that......isn't it?)

If you do run across a child porn site, also report it to:

http://www.asacp.org/

They've got a good track record at shutting down those sites.

It's not sufficient just to delete temp files if you want to remove all traces, you have to use deltree. There is some info about it on one of my sites. http://www.computerthreats.com The link is on the left under deep deletion of temp files.

You should not post links or actual references to cp sites. If this is a cp site, this board will be comitting an offence and may be blocked from some resources if it is detected. It would be best if you could edit out the reference.

I`ve sent email to the FBI already yesterday. I`m sure they know who to forward this issue to, even if it`s an international matter..

thx

I havent passed the first page, not am I intending to. I`ll let apropriate authorities to handle this, all I have done was check the whois, and contacted the FBI.

I would like to know why are you recomending this, though? You think it could get me into some kind of trouble? It makes no sence, since Im the one who reported it.. And why should I make every effort to errase all the traces? I mean, I havent done anything wrong, I`ve just coincidentaly visited the site. I`m sure the FBI keeps emails and logs, so they have my IP on file. If anything goes wrong, I guess they`ll cover for me..

I'm sure you won't have a problem with the FBI. There are a number of self-appointed policemen on the net and sometimes they get it wrong, and it is for this reason that it is best to remove all pictures and links from your computer. I support the removal of cp from the net and hope that there will be a recognised standard procedure to handle it in the near future. At the moment it is starting to be used as a blackmail threat or retaliatory action by some people. (They add links to your site or change existing links).

Btw - it is worth doing a deep deletion of the temp internet files in any case. I freed over 500Mb on one computer by doing this after Windows Explorer had deleted all files there. I wonder why BG keeps those files hidden inside your computer?
