why not the .space .moon .mars TLDs now?

why not the .space .moon .mars TLDs now?

the new exploration plans by NASA, ESA, Russia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, new.space companies, etc. say that, this time, the goal is to come back to the Moon (and, later, on Mars) to LIVE and WORK there (in several lunar/mars outposts, space stations, etc.)

so, why not allow NOW the .space .moon .mars TLDs devoted to all moon/mars/space-related websites and (someday) for all websites based in Space (ISS, etc.) Moon and Mars?

update: I've published an article on my ghostNASA blog to support this idea and I've also made three logo of the domains :)

Because by the time we start to live and work on the Moon or Mars, the domain name system as we know it now would not be in use any more.
 
Not really sure there would be enough demand for something like this. Maybe one generic, like .space, but other then that I think it would be overkill.

that may (probably) become true for .Mars but not for .Space or .Moon

this availability of "space related" could push their use... in other words, EACH astronaut, capsule, mission, rover, etc. may have its own specific domain name

that includes the space tourists the number of which may grow very much in the next decade

Even though this is kind of ridiculous, I would love to have a space domain :)
 
I think the only person who could do it right now with legitimacy is Richard Branson of Virgin. The guy is a phenomenal entrepreneur. I would love to listen to his vision and learn from him. He is never satisfied with sitting for the way things are now. Not only does he envision the way things could be, he pursues it and creates it.

He is almost like the modern day Howard Hughes...filthy rich, loves to live life to the fullest, and if he likes something he buys it...not just the product but the whole damn company.

As for an entity or a government agency, of course consider .nasa.
 
.nasa is good but .space is more generic and international
