Shocking news!

In less than a month after releasing their touchpad (and just decreased the price by $100 bucks earlier last week), HP announces that they are not only killing the Touchpad but are considering selling the computer business.

I would imagine their shareholders are outraged! They paid nearly 2 Billion for Palm to get their phone business and OS and now are shit canning the whole operations!

HP kills TouchPad, may spin off PC business
Iconic Silicon Valley company taking giant steps to rekindling growth

It should of been pretty clear for a while now that HP was going to fall. That company has been such a cluster f*** producing horrible products and customer service for so long.

Does this mean the TouchPad will drop more in price? I'll buy one. WebOS was better than anything else. Too bad it never got a chance to compete. Would be nice to have either Apple, Google or Microsoft buy WebOS from HP and implement the best features into its own. Microsoft would benefit the most from a WebOS purchase.

I had a Palm Pre and now an iPhone. I like the Palm Pre usability much more than the iPhone. IMO, the only thing the iPhone did better was more apps & a better hardware design.

RIP WebOS... will miss ya.

Guess mebbe I shouldn'a bought that HP PC last month ....

HP/Compaq don't have good quality products.
They have been famous about heat issues with the laptops for years and there is no improvement.
I have been switching to Toshiba/Dell (in that order) for the past 2 years.

Asus is the best for laptops. Ever since I got an Asus 4 years ago, I refuse to get anything else. Besides my Mac Book Air :)

Why? Because of which country huh? The country that drag the world down.

Does this mean that, once again, the Palm guys will be able to buy their company back for less than what they were paid for it? :D

Would anyone be at all shocked if Google were to up and buy HP?

Again, patents, patents, patents. Not only would google have a phone company (Motorola) they would have addition touchpad items and an entire product line running nothing but Android on PC's, laptops, etc. Along with, of course, all their bloatware.

Can't believe tablet pc and smartphone makers let Apple and Google come in and beat them at their own game. It's just too embarrassing. The only other companies that had great foresight to adapt to the changes quick enough are Samsung and HTC. I'm most impressed by Samsung though. Samsung has invaded all verticals in the smartphone market as a manufacturer and provider of components for the Iphone and loads of different devices.

And HP shouldn't have let Mark Hurd leave in the first place.

Bought the Kyocera 6035 when it first came out. One of the best smartphones ever. The integration with the Palm os was second to none. I have been missing Palm for a while now. If only they had kept up.

They have pumped a ton of money in TV spots for the Touchpad lately. Russell Brand, glee actress, Pacciou (boxer) to name a few. Huge media blitz.

As for those that do not like HP computer products, for me their desktops are second to none along with their monitors and printers. I am on my 5th desktop (not due to failures but to upgrades) and 3rd laptop (other 2 still going strong - gave to family members). Only other desktop we have is a Sony Vaio (very nice) and use a Lenovo laptop as well (very nice). We have the iPad and Asus EEE Transformer which is awesome.

Not at all familiar with the WebOS (Palm).

WebOS rocks. If you lineup WebOS, Android & ios..... no contest that WebOS is the best of the three.

HP Makes good monitors and printers and that is it. Their computers and laptops are terrible. Constant HDD, Memory and MOBO failures. I have had 3 HP desk tops and 3 Laptops, after buying an ASUS, I will never go back to any other company besides Apple for a desktop or laptop.
