I bought a domain for $1.00 a couple of weeks ago. The owner isn't responding. I don't really blame him. What's the way to proceed in such a situation? Does it happen a lot?

Why aren't you blaming him? He has an obligation to contact you within 72 hours. You need to notify Greg so that this guy won't continue to cheat others by faling to deliver domains he auctions.

I'm not sure but I think it was during an auction on which the owner couldn't put a reserve (the rules keep changing). He probably put it in the auction hoping it would make a lot more (its 4 letters)

I agree he took the chance and he should honour the sale. I have already informed gregr, but I'll leave it at that.

The rules NEVER allowed placing a reserve bid on a domain. He has a choice now - deliver the domain and be honorable, or be history.

the starting price is the price the bidding starts it

garyf why don't you publicize the name of this person so others will be aware of this? As long as you have made a good faith effort to communicate with him and resolve it first, you'd be doing this community a service by outing a deadbeat

Fonz,

There has never been a reserve price in these auction. Once a minimum bid placed by a buyer, the seller is bound to deliver the domain. If the seller placed a $1.00 starting bid and a buyer places a $1.00 and nobody else bids. The buyer is entitled to the domain.

I sent him/her a private message about ten days ago (and another just now). He/She doesn't accept emails through the forum and I've mentioned it to gregr. I'm hoping gregr might be able to contact him/her. If anybody wants to see who it is, I only bought that domain on 1st Feb, it's in the list for all to see.
