On the 18th of July we launched a free hosting service, 1L.com.

This site is for now supported by its parent company, FutureHosting, but we're looking to sell it. The sign-up rate at the site is tremendous, about one signup every 5 minutes. Receives a lot of traffic from all across the world.

Up to date there are 1481 active accounts and 1141 accounts pending. These figures change every 4-5 minutes. This free host is different from the rest, by offering a top domain name which is excellent for subdomains, 24x7 support for all users.

Also, the domain will show up first in any results (starting with 1). It's not indexed by any search engine, but within a month it will. Then it will be competitive for the relevant keywords.

What will you get:
- domain name: 1l.com
- server with more than 2800 accounts
- all the traffic the site receives (more than 16000 hits daily, full stats at http://www.1l.com/webstat - updates once a day, at 6 AM GMT)
- huge advertising platform

http://www.1l.com is on a different server than the free host for the obvious reasons.

Accepting decent offers. Auction ends in 5 upon receipt of first suitable bid.

How did you cover your server cost?
1000+ account is something like 100Gg
Do you have a price range in mind?

As I said, the cost were and are covered by FutureHosting (server, tech support etc).

I've been offered high 4 figures to mid 5 figures. ($X,XXX to mid $1X,XXX)

1. Why are you selling it?
2. Where are ads shown, other than on the main page of the site? Basically, how can somebody make money from this site?
3. I was trying to find a 1L.com hosted site in a google, and I found http://kamaa.1l.com which appears to have been hacked.
4. What hosting software is the site running on?
5. Are the free sites all hosted on 1 server? If so, does the software have the ability to split the sites over mutliple servers once the first server gets full?
6. Are there any cpanel licensing costs to give so many cpanel accounts away?

This site was opened on July 18th and has 2800 accounts?

You are guaranteeing the site will be in the #1 spot for any search beginnign with #1?

Your own webstats say the site receives only 1500+ visitors per day not 16000

You're giving away free cpanel acounts with hosting?

If you were paying for ANY of this (which I doubt you are) you'd be losing thousands of dollars per day in hosting a licensing costs alone.

Honest question, seriously, did you really think anyone would believe you and give you $x,xxx?

Could you show an example of a hosted site please? and how much hosting do they get?

Answering all questions below:

impulse:
1. We are selling because we need to finance another project. We expect the sale to cover about 40% of the cost of the new project.
2. So far there are no ads on the site because 2 media companies that we contacted said they couldn't handle all the traffic on all sites. We clearly stated that we want a media company to cover all sites under 1L.
3. Site shows up as it does because there were users that signed-up with multiple accounts and changed the default index.html page and put up a hack site. It's a child's play, the servers' integrity wasn't affected at all.
4. The site is on a different server, as stated in the first post. It's running on Plesk.
5. Momentarily all sites are hosted on 1 dedicated server. We are planning to get a new server on monday just in case the sign-up rate will skyrocket once again during week-days. Yes, the accounts can be migrated without any problem on another server.
6. Server has a cPanel license. We can afford to give away all the accounts because for now it's entirely supported by FutureHosting.

GMedia:
- Yes, there are so many accounts since the 18th and still rising.
- As the domain is a short one, begining with "1", it's bound to show up in most results. All it needs is a bit of SEO for the right keywords. We haven't done any SEO so far.
- Read the first post. I said hits, not visitors.
- all accounts have cPanel enabled, yes. It's a proven fact that most end-users like cPanel.
- We are paying for ALL. Once again, read the first post. FutureHosting is supporting all the costs for now.
- I don't want to answer your honest question in a cinical way. The domain alone is worth more than $6,000 on the market. If you don't know why, you need to do some reading. I've been offered low $1X,XXX already.

Mr. Deleted:

- I randomly picked one site: http://oakdigital.1l.com/

We're offering 100 MB space, 2 GB monthly traffic, 2 MySQL DBs, 20 subdomains and 20 email accounts, PHP, SSI and FrontPage.

people pay that for free hosting comanpies all the time. plus the domain on this one is worth that at least.

adrian just curious, i saw you were having trouble finding a media company to run ads. have you tried running Google Adsense on the pages and seeing how that performs?

Ok. one last question from me. As i had try to find your domain in search engine, i cant see anything. How did you get 2800 free hosting account without getting indexed by search engine.
Did you advertise your website? if yes, where is it and how much will that cost monthly?
will you accept offer for domain only?
Thanks

As stated in the first post, it's not indexed by any search engine yet. But the site was submited also on the 18th to all major search engines manualy.

The site was not advertised in any way, but automaticly included in some relevant directories. All major traffic comes either from those directories or forums that we didn't advertise on, but have threads related to our service.

If we sell the domain alone and use it for soemthing else, it will lose all it's traffic within a month or so.

Sorry, I missed that. Maybe it was an edited post.

No, I haven't tried AdSense yet. But with the traffic it gets, it might perform very well. Users already started to send thank you mails to support.

Will try AdSense today and will let everyone know about the performance.

Also, I've set a BIN price of $12,000

Thank you linkreach,

As promised, I've tested AdSense. But only on the mainpage of www.1l.com (as opposed to more than 2000 sites that are hosted under www.1l.com). So far the daily income is about $15. Once again, this is only from ONE PAGE ALONE. Multiply that several times and you'll come to a conclusion.

SKelly,

Please take the time and read the first post in the thread. It clearly says it was launched on the 18th of this month. Now, how many times have you seen Google indexing pages within 10 days?

I beg you, please read the entire thread before posting useless comments and advices. Thank you.

Seller already stated that it's not indexed, go back and read. Next time, only post questions related to the sale.

Thank you for stepping in.

Also, I promised to keep everybody updated on the revenue issue. Untill today (since 26th to 29th), having the AdSense code on just the main page of the site, the revenue is ~$65. So that's an average of $20/day.

Also, no acceptable bids yet.
