I'm considering selling a barbecue related web site. Here are some vital stats:
1. Over 20,000 uniques per month for the last two months
2. 37,601 PVs in July (with 1 day to go)
3. A real Yahoo directory listing at:
Society and Culture > Food and Drink > Types of Food > Barbecue
4. Absolutely NO advertising costs...all traffic is from organic search and type-ins
5. PR 5 according to google toolbar
I acquired the domain, www.BBQmaster.net, when it expired. I built a search-engine keyword site on it (using standard software). It's not perfect web layout/design, but what's important is that it WORKS for search engines. Tons of the pages are indexed, search for link:http://www.bbqmaster.net at google.
Here are the top 5 sources of traffic:
1 17466 27.66% - (Direct Request)
2 13784 21.83% http://www.google.com/search
3 1514 2.40% http://www.google.ca/search
4 1054 1.67% http://aolsearch.aol.com/aol/search
5 623 0.99% http://search.yahoo.com/search
Traffic has steadily increased as the summer progresses and the site gets more search engine tracking. Also, traffic spikes around holidays (e.g., July 4th in US) as people go to the web for barbecue information.
I haven't done much to monetize the site. I have Adsense ads, but I created the web pages before Adsense let you track invidual sites so I'm not sure how much $$ is coming from this particular site.
I envision you'll be able to take what I have, create a better monetization strategy for the traffic, and run with it.
Feel free to post questions or PM me. No specific asking price.
Thanks,
Andrew
