I already won spellingmistakes.com at your Pool.com auction. You advertised the Pool.com auction on dnforum.com. Now you are trying to renege on the transaction and you are reselling the domain here. Needless to say I am not very happy about this.

Hello,

I am contacting you in regards to a recent domain purchase you made from our domain marketplace.

The domain in question is spellingmistakes.com

Due to an error on our part that domain appeared for sale on our domain marketplace when in fact the party selling the domain explicitly requested that we no longer list it. We did advise that party that there was a buyer for the domain and that we already received payment, but they confirmed they still wanted their domains back.

Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the domain.

As a result we can offer you the following in exchange.

A) We can credit your Pool.com account in the amount you paid for the domain. The credit in turn would be available towards the payment of your future domain purchases.
B) We can offer you a full refund as this was an error on our part.

There is no possibility we can provide you the domain as it should not have been available for sale when you found them on our domain marketplace.

We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for using Pool.com

Regards,

Pool.com Customer Service

Pool really dropped the ball on that one. The domain should never have been in the auction at that point - they returned it to me (correctly) but also simultaneously relisted it so that it was an orphaned auction lost in their system. It was never allowed to complete since they pulled the orphaned auction after a couple of days. In other words, the phantom auction you thought you were bidding on ended too soon and at an artificially low price because of the way they messed up.

The email you received from Pool outlined the situation correctly. Note where they say "in fact the party selling the domain explicitly requested that we no longer list it".

There were two full "real" auctions that went fully to conclusion with no bids on spellingmistakes.com - it's not that I somehow interrupted the Pool auction process "early". Pool plain and simply messed up after both auction periods [initial and free relisting] had already ended. The auction I directed people to from DNF certainly took place - and I sold quite a few domains in it - so there was nothing underhand there!

Sorry if it inconvenienced you - the back and forth with Pool customer support trying to get them to fix this certainly created a lot of hassle for me!
