3d printing is still a fairly speculative market... but all indications are that 3d printing technology is here to stay. Most analysts agree to some extent that 3d printing will likely become a major global industry within 10 years or less. With 3d printers now being sold at major retail outlets like Staples and Best Buy for as little as $500....the market is rapidly growing from being a technological oddity ....to a revolutionary manufacturing trend. The technology is still being developed but....it is not crazy to imagine 3d printers becoming as common as paper printers. The day may come when almost every home computer is matched with a 3dprinter.

To me the most obvious applications for this technology in the home will be for instant manufacturing of random tools, toys and perhaps jewelry. If you need a simple 5/8ths wrench and you don't have one... you could go to a website like ToolPrints.com and simply download a printplan for one and have it instantly made out of durable plastic. For kids I envision websites that specialize in printplans for random gizmos, gadgets, or 3d character figures. It would be easy to keep kids, "attention" by periodically unveiling new, "must have" designs or cute characters....(think pokemons).... available for download....."Mommy I have to have a 3d widgeyman!!!".... so mom goes to ToysPrinter.com and downloads a plan for, "widgeyman" to shut the kid up. For the ladies I could see girls actually designing their own, "costume" jewelry... or downloading plans for different styles of earrings, necklaces etc.

These are just a few ideas that pop to mind. Not sure if you agree with my vision... but I dont think its that hard to forsee...

It might sound harsh on my part, but here's a quick rule of thumb: unless the domain consists of valid, prime keywords that match the market's elements, combinations of "print" + random keyword don't make the cut. E.g. 3dprinter is fine, but 3dprintatoy is not. I understand that you're trying to capitalize on a trend by registering verticals, but the truth is all the good keywords are long gone. The same rule applies to any trend or market; you can't just tag a keyword to the trend or market 'trunk', hoping that it's a potential branch. That being said, you can prove me wrong by selling any of those at profit.
 
Thanks. What you wrote makes sense. I disagree a little bit... but I understand your point.

I suppose the point I disagree with is that to me more than a few of those domains consist of nothing but, "valid, prime keywords"... that will more than likely become a major part of the 3d printing market in my opinion. They may not be a part of the market right now... but I have very good reason to beleive they will be. You say you can't, "hope" that those keywords become a part of the market... I would disagree and say you can do EXACTLY that.... But I wouldn't call it, "hoping" as much as I would call it trend forecasting, or speculating on the market.... But that speculation was not done blindly.

I guess time will tell if my "keyword speculation" pans out.... but thanks again for your input... you raise some good points.
