Hello Guys,

Been reading these forums for few months now, and finally joined as I need help selling my domain.

It's a simply 4 letter US domain that, when used with a "o" subdomain becomes http://o.ptim.us which I think is pretty damn awesome.

If anyone could advise on how much I should be asked for it, it would be greatly appreciated. And also where to sell it (currently advertised free on sedo.com - never used them before so I don't know if they are any good)

Thanks in advance guys and gals

Ah that sucks. What makes it worth 0? Could it not be worth something to a transformers fan (Optimus Prime etc) ?

Has the traffic got anything to do with it?

Thanks for your reply though, even though it's kinda bad news. lol

Unlikely and yes. But if you really like it that much, you should do a small site and see if it attracts any interest. What do you have to lose?

I agree. I see no value in the name. And I *like* .US. :)

Simple rule... consider that any domain hack is worth $0. Such names are not even rare.
The value is in the development around the name, not the name itself.
Also, double hacks are even worse than regular hacks (ie famo.us).

One of the few famous and somewhat successful hacks was del.icio.us (can't even remember where to put the dots ;)), they gave up and acquired delicious.com.
The reason: losing too much type-in traffic.
What's more, the .us market is not too brilliant, you need to concentrate on much better names.

PS: welcome to DNF.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I thought it would be worth a little something, but ah well. I will return it back to my PHP snippet site in the morning.

How do people these days get ahold of a decent domain name to sell? Have you guys ever had any good experiences with those "off-the-shelf" domain grabbers that get the domain you want then/if it expires?

Also, I saw some guy (can't remember the forum) selling .me.pn domains for like $30 even though you can get them FOC. Is there something in this?

@sdsinc - Thank you for your warm welcome.

Save your money for awhile & spend some time reading. Aside from the school of hard knocks, this is one of the better places to learn about this line of business, as well as a lot of other things.

Cheers!

After you read, say, 2000 post, you will make significantly fewer mistakes. We have been there too :).
