500k offer

Received an interesting offer of $555,562 for one of my dot ca names. The oddball number and the fact it would be by far the highest price paid for a .ca indicates this is probably a bogus offer. However, the dot com is definitely not available and if it ever did would likely go for 1M+ so it may be worth responding. What would you do?

Well ... congratulations, Shawn. But ... yes there's a "but". My reservation is that you probably won't get anything close to that astronomical amount even with sex.ca or those others listed at http://www.chapnik.net/minisites. People now just don't pay that much for a name. (Developed sites with guaranteed revenues - mind you, not just traffic - are different stories.) Be VERY careful. This might be just one of those domain appraisal spam/scam, but make sure you don't lose your name, which is a decent one, right? I would actually MEET with the buyer for that amount (unless that guy is in like China). Good luck.

Oops! I actually do not have any bias against China (my parents are Chinese if you guys still remember). I'm just concerned about the time and money Zoobar needs to spend for a "business" trip to China which cut into the profit of selling that dot-ca.

just hard to believe someone would throw out the amount for just a domain name if he is not a crazy guy or a billionaire.

even a big company would use a broker such as greatdomains to help negotiate the deal, and they will make it much more professional that this.

Send an email asking for offer verification and a phone contact number - - even if China - - Also add that their offer is too high, that you would accept $500,000.00 USD.

Personally, I think it is bogus.

No [.CA] domain is worth that kind of money.

registrant of sex.ca could dream of that kind of money (and even get it). any other .ca name cannot sell for $555,562 or close these days. be very careful with this person.

perhaps this potential buyer (a real one?) made this offer so that even after paying 10% to sedo.us you are still left with $500K.

however i doubt if this is a real offer. best of luck.

The cost of travelling to China is not that expensive. Especially, if you go coach. But, if you do go coach, it will be one of the longest trip you ever made especially because of coach.

And, hotel and food cost are not any higher than U.S.

But, if it is China. Don't plan on the deal being done in one day.

I hate to say it, However, I am sure the offer is bogus. No one offers a price like that without some communication.
