You have all seen the name and I have promoted it hard for that last few months.

I went to alexa.com and it shows
Avg. Traffic Rank: 947,552

edomainbuyers.com

Does this name have any value based on that..? I dont have counter on it because it is hosted through enom..

What does that traffic ranking mean anyhow?

Does the name hold any value...?

I am sure there are people that I have sold too,, that come back on a regular basis...

Any advice would be great..

Thanks

Well, based on the name I would guess that it had many domains pointed to it...creating a false rating.

Well as far as domains pointing to the name is false.

You can go to my site and type in all my names and either they,,

A) have a parking page

B) shows a page from netfirms so I can watch the traffic..

Dont have any names pointing to my site... I have alot of links that i have placed every where, But know names pointing to it.,

Based on what I have mentioned, Why is it so good on alexa.com

Thanks:confused:

you don't understand...who owned it before you?

Some domain resellers have hundeds or thousands of names that redirect to their main site. It will create false readings.

Nobody owned it before me..

I came up with the name and regged it..

Never a owner before and never any names pointing to it.

Just me promoting the site,, That is it,,

Thanks

Hmmm...I don't know then. I'll check my Alexa on my brand new site...I wonder what I'll get?

Please tell me... I really want to know about it.. I know I promote the heck out of it..

Please tell me any info you can on the name..

Thank you

The deal with Alexa rankings, if you promoted the heck out of a domain and its get a good ranking -- then it's really your efforts and not the domain itsself that is valuable.

On the flip side, if you find a domain name that has never been promoted or used for a site and it still has a decent alexa rating -- it's the name itsself that is valuable, because people are typing it in. A rare catch indeed.

Not sure, but I think a few reviews help in the rankings - and it doesn't hurt :)

At Alexa, it is a reverse ranking score.

A score of one is the best.

900,000+ is a really low rank, to my understanding.
(IE- the site is almost the millionth most popular of sites ranked by alexa)

It is not the number of links, based on the Alexa scoring system,
but where it ranks against all the others that met scoring conditions. Also, if you frame forward from your registrar, it ranks the registrar rank, as well as it can rank your server domain .

I have a domain that ranked real well upon my purchace, and it was the server service I was using that was getting the rank.

Also, the traffic count that makes the rank is solely generated from alexa users that have the toolbar installed and on in the desktop.

No,,, I think you have it wrong..... #1 is being best... and 900,000 out of 2 MILLION sites, I think is pretty good...

As far as the server goes,,, I have all with them, Yet none of the others evern have a rank on alexa.com

That is ranking for www.edomainbuyers.com and not for enom.com

Thanks

any opions

Get it down to 5 digits and the name might gain value. I dont think its hard to get a 900,000 ranking.

My lowest ranked Domain is 1,5mil Scriptn.com, I guess I should get the site back up :)

Most of my other names are ranked at the 3mil. range.

Mike

You might be right being in the top 50 percentile.

But if 1 percent of all sites get 90 percent of all traffic, that doesnt leave much.

I have one domain that ranks in the alexa at around 3500 but I actually recieve maybe a few hundred hits a year, including myself. I quit using the toolbar some time back and my rank has dropped to around 10000.

Dont get me wrong, I dont even know which domain you speak of, it probubly is a great name, and I am not implying otherwise. I just think that alexa is a good service if you want a tool to gain access to similar or related sites based upon your browsing habits. I think that is all it is advertised as.

actually,

alexa ranks the domain based on people using their toolbar and browse the net. if you've installed its toolbar and you've been typing in your own domain a lots, you rank increases dramatically.

This is the opposed case of smirkley, he un-installed alexa's toolbar.

So, I'd say the top 50,000 ranking are really from general users. The rest are just false numbers.

What is a toolbar?

I dont have a toolbar?

Oh,, I see it... No, I dont have that on my site or computer..

I just type in google or yahoo for searches... Sometimes I use Aol... If that is what it is for....

I mean I have sold hundreds of domains off the site and I have placed links every where for the site..... Pluse of course I have sold names to people on the forum as well....

I dont know,, Is there any where else I can go where I can find the ranking or the traffic that comes to my site.?

Thanks

Thank you for the link... That is one of my threads in the " domain developing" section....

I am looking for a place that is easy to use..

I dont know how to use FTP and all that yet...
