So I checked the whois of this domain... which says it's registered, but that it expired on the 21th of August this year. How can I go about getting this name? Do I have to wait the whole redemption period etc? I don't know much about this!

Luke: Recommend checking the expiration policy of the domain where it is registered. Most of them post their policies and that may give you an idea as to when--typical is 30-40 days after expiration before the name is released.
