A very interesting (and funny) use of the word “Up”

While conducting some trademark research this morning, I happened upon a hilarious trademark (an unintentionally hilarious trademark, mind you!) that absolutely made my day.

This is the actual trademark:

WE HELP PEOPLE UP THEIR SALES INCOME...UP YOURS

Don’t you just love the “up yours” part. And for added emphasis, they placed the phrase after an ellipsis! And yes, this was actually a SERIOUS trademark for a business.

Now, it might have been a bit better if they used another word for “up.”

Maybe “improve yours” would have worked just a tad better than “up yours.”

How in the heck could anyone actually look at this over and over, including the trademark attorney, and not see how this would come across.

Not surprisingly, the trademark is dead. But please remember that if you want to up your sales, that you can always…

up yours!

Now, there’s a sales motto to live by!
