No, the site is AD free. Nothing is sold on the site. The main source of revenue you could use would be ADs due to the high PR & large number of visitors.

HTML, and with an HTML editor

Yes, but I did switch host once the site got bigger, so it seems like the site has been big the whole time if you look at the stats.

Absolutely none. Different designers, different coding. PCplay is phpnuke (a php script) while blueshadowz is simple HTML. Well, and the same design ideas. Light... header, footer, navigation, content in the center. But very very different sites.
