Alexa translator: add your info

Ok. Based on my own experience with sites over the last 6 months, here's what Alexa rankings mean if there is no spoofing going on. Feel free to add your own visitors and Alexa experiece. BTW, I find Alexa works best in the negative: sure, there are lots of ways to artifically increase your Alexa, but anyone who claims a site with alexa > 1 million gets 5k uniques a day is lying.

Ok, here goes:

ALEXA......REAL TRAFFIC
5000........130,000 (at about 7 pages/visit)
15,000.......40,000 (at 4.5 pages/visit)
100,000.......3,500 (at 6 pages/visit)
350,000.......2,000 (at 4 pages/visit)
1,000,000.......400 (at 4 pages/visit)

let me put it this way:

one of my car sites is ranked around 600,000 and gets 60 visits per day, another is ranked around 1,500,000 and gets 300 visits per day...

My site gets about 3,500 daily visits, ranked 57,00 at Alexa.

the uniques/visits do not matter at all... your ranking can be inside 10k from 1 host.... as long as it is sending hits to your site none stop alexa will keep on counting... it's all about the hits (page views)

Stats can vary greatly. Here are 3 examples of alexa being way off:
Site 1:
132,964
4,200 uniques/day
Page views: Total: 89k/day
The only reason it iis under 500k at alexa is because I used ot have the search bar.
The site was as low as mid 20k at alexa and before I had the bar was getting like 7k daily uniques and tons of page views and was 350,000.

Site 2:
3,040,843 at alexa
300 daily unqiues
983 Pageviews/day

Site 3:
397,460 at alexa
127 daily uniques
470 Pageviews/day

Site 2 has twice the traffic and twice the pageviews but I didnt visit often so it has a crappy ranking.

So alexa is a decent gauge but if someone says they are getting 10k uniques a day and they are ranked 400,000 in alexa they may be telling the truth.
