Are you listening to ambient music and if yes, when do you do that? I love listening to rain falling sounds for some reason. Thunder is fine there but it's okay without it as well. There is a youtube video who is live 24/7 for rain sounds. I used to listen to this when I want to fall asleep and also when I need extra focus on some things. At least that's it works for me.

I always put on soft wind or distant waves, especially at night. It helps me unwind fast, and I barely notice anything else once it fades into the background.
