Very nice sale. A little too broad IMO and not much money in that niche but could be quite lucrative if it's done right.
I hope the buyer is going to develop - I can't think of any legitimate rescue organizations who could even afford the sale price, let alone what a domainer would want to sell it for.

One of those names where I think the .org is far more valuable (and appropriate) than the .com...
Perhaps a nationwide directory of animal rescue services, organisations, etc... funded by advertising from (lucrative) animal-related products like food, toys, vets, etc.
