I was doing a scan today at ebay and I had noticed ill.net at auction. It put up a red flag, because I had just seen this domain coming up for auction at NameJet.com in the Pre-Release section.

I checked whois and it still shows PendingDeleteRenewal.
Sent seller an email with no reply.
Feedback as a SELLER 0
Feeback as a BUYER 24 and all are 1 penny auctions.

I am not 100% on this one, but 99.9%, but if anything, I am about 99% sure if you win a pre-release domain at NJ, there is a 42 day hold on the domain, which in this case I know for a fact, that 42 days have not passed and there is no way for the highest bidder to get the domain.

Auction link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...:MEWA:IT&ih=009

I have reported this to eBay!

Thanks for the heads up - I was one of the bidders - until now. Should have done a bit more homework.

i only deal with reputable powersellers on ebay

yes - I am starting to understand why. Too many ways to lose money without handing it over to thieves.

i never buy from ebay, not worth the risk.. if i see a domain i like.. ill just do a who is check and send the seller an email..

otherwise, ebay is a high risk investment with no refunds...

Another S.C.U.M.B.A.G on ebay .....

WHOIS shows pending renewal or deletion.

Thanks for the .info Acroplex- can't believe so many scammers selling fake PR6-PR7 domains daily and get a lot of bids.

I agree, the Feedback is a big red flag....

What does "Client hold" mean? it may have a legal lock on it.

This domain has been expired since two days ago I think. It must have been caught by Namejet. The domain would be in Namejet auction at this time.

Definite scam.

I did a little more digging and found this on G.

http://www.namejet.com/Pages/Auctions/PreReleaseDetails.aspx?DomainName=ill.net

Which shows the domain is or was at NJ very recently ($3,300) so I figured I would backorder it to watch but it will not let me, so I am not sure if the auction is done or what.

If you click on the user name at eBay (courtneyduffrealty) it shows This listing () has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number.

But if you go to bid, it appears that you still can?

I must research all sellers before bidding on ebay. My lowball bid of 2850 apparently was overbid on namejet.

Does anyone have an explanation for the widespread use of intitials with stars as usernames on ebay?? (i.e. t****a or y***s)

I see these in a lot of auctions, especially recently - specifically while browsing domain names, gold, silver and collectibles.

The auction ended at $5k something.

Compassion - ebay has started hiding user names for higher ticket items, I believe over 1000 but I may be wrong. So, instead of being able to see (and possibly contact) the bidder you will instead see e***s.
