I think that the answer to the question "Whether info really catches on?" depends to some extent how one defines "catching on". If one uses the .com parameter, I don't think it ever will (or even should). For that matter, no new tld from now on will see what happened with .com which was totally illogical and absolutely unsustaianble as fas as the reg #s go; there're already milllions of .com deletions and IMO much more are going to dissappear over next few years. What I'd suspect and hope is that .INFO sites will be more well-defined, more suitable to the purpose of tld and in general higher quality with better content. The "take on" will be relatively slow and gradual but ultimately it'd identify itself as "the place" to get info on various subjects. I know it'd help if the registry somehow becomes more active in promoting the tld (I know I'd personally like that a lot) but in terms of the eventual success of .INFO as a tld, I'm not really sure how much role the registry will/should play? I mean we didn't see that with .com or even now with other new tlds such as .biz or .us. My thinking is that there's a certain critical threshold after which things just seem to "catch on" and that coincides with few/several prominent players getting on board and start advertising for their products/services/causes along with the associated tld. This has started to happen to some extent with .INFO already.
ass.us (one I want to sell)...You can't loose on this one..

tablature.us (this one I'm not sure about)....Me neither!
singing.us (I dont like this one - thinking of dropping it)...I tend to disagree....I think it's likely to work out just fine.
Its almost impossible to put any $$ valuation for .US names as yet. Good Luck!

.Com didnt really need any advertising because there were only so many extensions when it came to be so it was advertised by virtue of that there was relatively nothing else.
I think the newer extensions can only benefit with some advertising. .Us was actually initially advertised in some papers and neulevel does seem to be more in favor of advertsing and contest etc.
.Info never really was advertised except for the negative publicity - mostly read by speculators. I think there is a subtle time element here at play and advertising the extension, which was supposed to be done actually as per contract, could help create awareness and use. I don't think it would have a trivial effect. It could (well really could of) created faster awareness and development.
.info is being developed and it is slowly becoming more known, but I think some advertising would have pushed it along nicely. I don't believe we have all the time in the world and that lost time is lost value. Because change in everything, technology, political landscape etc is always right around the corner and any loss of an advantage that can be used or is supposed to be used can only be bad imo.
