I believe it to be on a downward trend...esp with the current developments in the news, investors with any business sense will be divesting this stock from their portfolio's imo
and I expect MS shares to be on the rise soon and possibly skyrocketing in the next year or two...
I do believe MS to have their sites set on as much online advertising income as possible and they are not going to stop until they get it, Yahoo or no Yahoo takeover. This means very good returns for shareholders imo..
Google is going to turn the tables on Microsoft IMHO - the battle is moving into the small business market from the search advertising market. All of Googles recent software has a paid for option as well (or instead) of an ad supported model.
Maybe advertising is not all it was cracked up to be? It works alongside public search but I do not think it can be pushed into other markets like others do.
Microsoft would have to gain a much bigger share in search before they could get anywhere near the revenue of Google, but Google does not have to do much to upset Microsofts apple cart. Microsoft has not gained more than 5% in search and have not shown how they can change that.
Based on my (non-technical) site, IE is actually down to around 75% and dropping (non-US countries have more Firefox users). MS are being forced by the EU to follow standards so will not have such a strong hold over the industry in the next 10 years as it has had over the last 10.
