Hi all,

I’ve just started working on a domain research project called DomainVolume and thought this would be a good place to get some opinions from people who know domains.

The basic idea is fairly simple.

I take keyword data from Google Keyword Planner — including monthly search-volume ranges, competition and advertising bid data — and match the keywords against .com and .co.uk domains that are available when checked.

Rather than starting with a domain and trying to decide whether it has any commercial relevance, I’m approaching it the other way around:

Search demand → keyword → matching available domain.

I only started populating the site very recently and already have 200+ domain opportunities across categories such as electricians, plumbers, locksmiths, roofers, accountants, solicitors, estate agents, mortgage brokers and financial advisers.

One interesting side of it that I hadn't originally considered is business-name research.

For example, someone searching for electrician business names or electrician company name could browse ideas where the corresponding domain was actually available when checked. So rather than choosing a business name and then discovering the domain has gone, the domain becomes part of finding the name.

Each individual opportunity also has information about the Google search data and some AI-generated analysis of the likely search intent and possible uses for the domain.

I'm still at a very early stage and adding categories/data now, so I'm particularly interested in what experienced domainers think of the concept.

Would you find search-volume/CPC data useful when looking through available domains?

And is there anything else you would want to see alongside the domains that would make the data more useful?

The site is DomainVolume.com if anyone wants to have a look.

Any feedback — positive or negative — is welcome. I'm interested to see whether other domainers find the approach useful before I build it out much further.

Thanks.
