Mole you know How big I am on ccTLDS..but I think .com.cn is a huge mistake..

sub-domaining ccTLDs never do as well as unrestricted cctlds..and then to top it off they do the moronic .com.cn

why not simply stop at .com instead of typing in 2 extra letters cn ? This helps .com imo (helps the owners of any .coms that actually have NATURAL type-ins.)

Was this ICANNS suggestion ?

That said I will be picking up a few..they will reg a few million of these..but they could have been in a position to have tens of millions reged

Maybe you are right about promoting .com bit, bid. But if there are some good generics available at launch, no harm grabbing a few for prosperity. May be good for sites that act as "gateways" into China. It is after all, one of the world's fastest growing economies despite the recession and everything

some small firm can grab their brand name for which they dont have representative office in china. besides, .com.cn worth nothing if you dont do business in china.

Yes, I work for Dotster, CNauctions.com is part of the same group of services as Dotster and Namewinner (i.e. the same parent company) and will be using all our registry conenctions to try to grab names during the landrush.
